Hamilton

Mount Carmel Infants’ Home began in a cottage on Hamilton mountain which was used as a summer home for orphans. Later, in 1917, property on the mountain was donated by the Bishop of Hamilton, and the name Mount Carmel was given to the home, which cared for infants who had been left at St. Mary’s Orphanage (to 1926).
